NOTE: Program participants and coaches have already been registered for the 5K and DO NOT need to register.

This 5K is a celebratory event, and is non-competitive. Our GOTR program particpants will receive customized medals as they cross the finish line. Current Girls on the Run program participants DO NOT need to register for the 5K; their program registration includes their entry into the 5K. Current coaches are also automatically registered for the 5K. GOTR program participants and coaches will receive their 5K bibs and shirts at their team meeting table in the team village.  Coaches and GOTR participants DO NOT need to check in at packet pick up or at the registration table at the 5K.

For all other 5K participants (family members, running buddies, and community runners), packet pick-up will be available on Friday, May 17, from 5:00-6:30 pm, at Morgantown Running and at the 5K event, on Saturday, May 18, starting at 9:00 am. In person registration will be available during these events, but we strongly encourage you to register online ahead of race day to eliminate lengthy wait times at the registration table.  All registrations at packet pick up and at the 5K will be cashless, so please plan ahead to have an electronic form of payment.

Running Buddies who are running with a GOTR participant must register for the 5K.  Each girl receives one discounted entry for her designated running buddy.  The registration form will prompt you to claim your discount if you are running with a GOTR participant.

If you are a GOTR Alumna (ie. a girl who has participated in the Girls on the Run or Heart & Sole program in a previous season), please e-mail Joanna Mizener, joanna.mizener@girlsontherun.org, for your 30% GOTR Alumna discount code.  We are delighted to see that our girls are still running and have returned to encourage others!  When you email, please provide the season and the site where you participated, so that we can more quickly process your request.  (Alumna discount codes are not available for registrations at packet pick up or on event day.)

T-shirts are guaranteed to preregistered participants only.  Register early to guarantee shirt and size! The deadline for guaranteed t-shirt size is April 15, 2024.

All in person registration and merchandise sales will be cashless this season. Please bring a credit card or tap to pay form of payment!

True

The course for a 5K is 3.1 miles.

As a reminder, this is a fun, celebratory event for our participants and not a competitive race. While our fastest 5K participants will complete the course in 25 minutes, most cross the finish line in 30-50 minutes. Everyone who participates is encouraged to walk, roll, push, run or skip at their happy pace!

First, we understand that life happens, and circumstance might make it impossible to attend.

We strongly encourage that all participants attend and complete the 5K, as it is the goal that teams are preparing for all season long! It’s the ultimate opportunity to build confidence through accomplishment. Remember, this is the first 5K event for many – including coaches, participants, friends and family members. We are in it together!

For safety reasons, every participant must wear a race bib (provided by the council). Our council ensures every participant has a running buddy, and only critical 5K volunteers have access to confidential information.

To ensure every participant crosses the finish line, we monitor the course and conduct head counts. Our council has a safety plan in place, which trains staff and volunteers on how to respond during an emergency or incident.

Yes. Girls on the Run 5K events are for everyone! All participants can walk, run, push or roll safely and at their own happy pace. Designated parking spots are available.

A Running Buddy is an individual designated by the parent/guardian or by the council to complete the 5K alongside a program participant during the 5K event, for the entire duration of the course.

Yes! This is encouraged! This is a great way to accomplish a goal together.

Yes! Family, friends and community members outside of our program can participate in the event, but must register.
